Searching For Another Perfect Partner

Shane was glad Oneida's attacks had hit the Seviper, and distracted it long enough for the Ember to hit and cause some sizable damage. So far, he could only see several small black soot spots on the snake's body, but that was it. He needed more to take that snake down before anything else could happen. Perhaps it would be wiser to rely on Ember until it was necessary to use String Shot...

He didn't have that much time to think about what to do in order to take it down. The snake was on the move. Unfortunately, the snake seemed to think it was wise to wrap its body around a vicious fire bug. Since Oneida couldn't move out of the way that quickly, she was caught in the snake's Wrap.

She started to screech, hiss, and writhe around in the Seviper's hold. Hissing furiously, she proceeded to blast multiple fire balls at the snake, not caring if it hit his face or his body. All she wanted was getting out of this hold and outright murder this snake for doing that. It was too much of a close contact!

"Ember again!" He called out, and the Larvesta complied, blasting yet another round of fire balls at the snake again. Afterwards, she would wince in pain due to the Wrap attack.

Oneida cried out in pain when the Seviper squeezed tighter on her. He would pay for this insolence! She watched through squinted eyes to witness the Seviper's nimble dodging of her multiple Embers. She was frustrated now, and started to struggle and squirm again. She had to get out of his grip!

"String Shot!" Shane ordered, watching the battle with a horrified expression on his face. He couldn't risk a Paralysis right now! If Oneida were to become Paralysis, then it'd be down to that Cottonee or this pup, and either one wasn't any better than the other. He had to prevent the snake from Licking the bug.

The Larvesta obeyed, forced her eyes open to see why Shane had ordered for a String Shot, and promptly spat out a good amount of grayish sticky goo into his mouth and around his tongue. Afterwards, she tried Ember again, shooting the fire balls from her horns to the Seviper's head and body. This snake was harder to defeat than she had expected.

Oneida once more groaned in pain and gasped for air until the snake slackened his grip. Now she could breathe, and watch as the reaction chain went from String Shot to the snake being Burned. If she had a visible mouth, she'd be smiling by now. Once the snake released her, she scuttled backwards, but kept somewhat close to the snake. With a hiss, she moved around, trying to find a good point to attack.

"Another Ember." Shane called out, looking worried about the Seviper, but right now, he needed to win this battle. Afterwards, he could worry and fret over everything.

The fire bug hissed once more, and scuttled forwards to the snake, allowing yet another group of fire balls flying towards the snake. For a good measure, she did another Ember, sending another group behind the first group. Hopefully, this would make sure the Seviper was either fainted or dead. She preferred the latter, and actually hoped for it.

Shane watched the battle with fear rising within him. He didn't want the battle to end badly. However, it appeared that his fear was misplaced when the Seviper was hit by the last batch of Embers. That was probably more than enough to push the snake over as it fell to the ground, the sticky goo burned down to nothing. He peered at the still body, wondering it was still alive. He noticed it was still breathing. Ah good. It was alive. That was wonderful... Sorta.

Oneida noticed the Lillipup poking her head out, and staring at the snake. With a light hissing-like sigh, the Larvesta crawled over to her human, and poked him in his shin, gesturing to the pup. He glanced to the excited pup, and - after some thought -, realized the pup wanted to go with him. Remaining silent, he took out an empty poke ball and gently pressed the center against the pup's forehead. It absorbed the canine into the poke ball easily, and he waited for the machine to signal it was indeed captured.

With that done, he returned Oneida and walked into the village, not wanting to take his chances with several weakened Pokemon and a young Pokemon - or so that's what he thought about the Lillipup. Anyways, he walked around in the village, and found the Pokemon Center. Wonderful!

The so-called ninja entered the building, and walked straight to the nurse, scribbling a request in his notebook as he walked, and showed it to her. She simply took his three offered poke balls, and gestured to the seating areas. Luckily enough, he chose to sit down close to a pamphlet that had select Pokemon in it with explanations about them. It was few, and he could only find Lillipup in it. That would be enough for him since he could learn something about his Pokemon!

The nurse carried Shane's poke balls, handed them over to him, and - after asking the nurse another request - explained about his Pokemon and their genders. He thanked her as he left the building, and looked around the village. Shane noticed an daycare, and walked over there.

As he came closer, he noticed several people with canine-like Pokemon were in the building, seeming to train them with body language. Interesting. He walked in the daycare, not hearing a chime go off the moment he stepped in, and glanced around.

A worker spotted the young man, walked over to him, and spoke, "Hello! What can we do for you today?"

Shane watched the worker's lips carefully, and replied, "Um... I was curious about these... people and their Pokemon."

"Oh? They're training the dogs for disabled. Would you like one?" The worker asked, starting to notice Shane's stare at his lips. He wondered why, but had a feeling he would find out soon. After all, people were somewhat open.

"Um... Sure?" Shane questioned, not exactly knowing what to expect. All he knew was that he had been wanting a helping dog for a while. He was led to a counter where he was given some paperwork to fill out, and was left alone so he could concentrate on filling the papers. Soon, he was done with the paperwork, and he handed it over to the worker. After reading and sorting them out, the worker led Shane over to two trainers with two different dog Pokemon: Growlithe and Houndour.

"This guy here is Shane and he's deaf. He needs a helping dog." The worker explained to the trainers, and left him with them, now understanding why he would stare at his lips.

"Nice to meet you, Shane." One of the two trainers said, holding out a hand for him to shake as she kept on speaking, "My name is Lezlie and I've been training this Growlithe for a while. He isn't strong right now, but he can help you with city situations."

If Shane was able to hear, he could notice a strong streak of pride in her voice as she spoke about Growlithe. The aforementioned canine woofed at Shane and wagged his tail, panting a little. The Growlithe was raring to go, ready to prove himself to this man!

"I'm Blaze." The second trainer waved, attracting Shane's attention after he had shook the woman's hand. "I've been training with Houndour much longer than Lez here. He's pretty much the same with Growlithe over there, through." Blaze chatted, making sure the young man understood him.

"Hm..." He hummed as he stared at Growlithe and Houndour. On one hand, the Growlithe could be too much of a fun Pokemon, but, on the other hand, the Houndour looked far too serious and would be difficult to work with. Both Pokemon stared at him expectantly, one with a pair of begging eyes, and the other with pair of indifferent eyes.

"Growlithe." He finally announced, and was rewarded with a happy Growlithe 'dancing' around him.

"Alright! Come over here and we got some more paperwork for you. After this, you should be ready!" Lezlie spoke, taking Shane to a different counter and handing over a different set of forms. This time around, she stayed and helped Shane with his paperwork until he was done.

"Okay! Growlithe, you be good with Shane! Remember, don't get too excited." The female trainer reminded the canine, giving it a last hug before handing him a bright orange leash that was connected to a bright collar around the canine's neck.

"Oh, do I need to catch him?" Shane asked, suddenly realizing she wasn't giving him any poke ball.

"You should capture him fairly soon. If you want to do that now, you can if you want." Lezlie explained, gesturing to one of his empty Poke balls and to the dog.

"Okay." The young man said as he took out an empty poke ball and tapped it against the dog's forehead. It sucked the Growlithe inside and dinged with no shaking at all. He quickly allowed the dog to come out and placed the bright orange collar back on.

"Gervase, this will be your name from now on, okay?" Shane said, standing back up, and left the place with Gervase trotting by his side.

(To mods: Please approve this before I can move on. Let me explain about this Growlithe. Today, somehow, I found a lvl 3 Growlithe in my PC. I have no idea why it's there. I just know it's there. So... I'm... I'm just gonna grab that xD' * Shot to death * I'm sorry but it's there so I'm just taking it. Also. I did not edit that in my PC. I never did.)
