Anya pranced along the path that led to the Little Spirit Pokemon Lab, trying her best to remain focused on the task at hand. Now that she'd moved to this new region she needed to get herself a starting Pokemon and get down to business - the business of breeding, that is. However, she simply couldn't help but to stop and smell the roses (literally). Twin bushes grew on either side of the entrance and she boldly plucked a tiny bud from the fiercely blossoming bush to her right, tucking it into her purse before raising her hand to rap her knuckles against the door.
She stood with her hands in the pockets of her pale pink romper, waiting with as much patience as she could muster as she scuffed her feet back and forth on the sand strewn pavement that the walk was made up of. She really wondered just what sort of Pokemon were available behind those closed doors. She wasn't one to barge in without being invited so she clenched her fists in her pockets, digging her nails into her palms as further encouragement.
The woolly t-shirt she wore under her romper was causing her skin to itch a bit as the sun rose higher in the sky over the beach front city. The temperature was definitely rising as well. She regretted trying to dress down from her usual pretty dresses. She'd wanted them to take her seriously and this was the only outfit she had without a skirt that was either bell shaped and trailing the ground or six inches above her knees. She reluctantly pulled one of her hands out to tug at the collar of her shirt as she felt the first droplets of sweat running from her thick bubblegum pink hair down her back and chest under the much too warm shirt.
She felt the relief of indoor air conditioning pouring out over her feet in their sandals from the crack at the bottom of the door. Maybe she should just go in or come back another day. This was becoming too much to bear. She tried knocking one more time and it was at this point that she saw the pale yellow glowing button by the door. She pushed it - naturally, who can resist a button?? - and heard a distinct ding-dong from within and then the sudden shuffling of papers and feet as she assumed someone rushed to open the door. Or maybe their popcorn was burning. She wasn't sure which.

There was someone indeed inside. A certain Professor that was busy feeding the Pokemon out back. The reason she hadn't heard the young woman's knocks right away was because she was outside, in the main back of the building, a crowd of Baby Pokemon at her feet. It was hard trying to escape from their adorable grasp, and for the most art she was failing. She had no idea that Anya was outside until she heard the doorbell chime. Strange. It had been so long since anyone had actually used the doorbell. Whoever it was, she liked them already for being polite and staying outside; normally people just barged in as they pleased, which tended to cause a stir.
Carefully stepping out of the circle of clingy Pokemon, the Professor made her way to the door. She pulled it open with a wide smile, excited to see who was visiting her. "Hello!" she greeted. Looking down, she saw that this girl was... simply cute and adorable. She just wanted to pinch her cheeks off! But she restrained herself and stepped back, offering her the chance to come inside into the cool. "My name is Professor Iouna." She started off, "What can I do for you today?" Of course she already had an idea. Walking to her desk, she pulled out a clipboard with some papers on it and ink-pen tied on a string.

Anya tugged at a curl that had come loose from her ponytail sad that her hair was growing at weird paces and varying lengths ever since she'd cut it. This piece never managed to stay in her ponytail once her hair began to frizz and spring from the bundle at the crown of her head. It wasn't long before someone came to greet her and she felt better instantly at the fact that she was not only going to be dealing with a woman but this particular woman appeared to be very warm and friendly.
"Hi" her voice came out in its natural bright chiming way as she remembered that it was polite to return salutations and tell someone your name when they told you theirs, "I'm Anya Chekov." she followed her inside and after a couple beats remembered to add a "Nice to meet you!" She turned beat red, a couple shades darker than her hair, at her awkward first attempt at being a grown up and doing this for herself. She took her hands out of her pockets as they'd found their way back inside, turning her palms against her backside to wipe any sweaty grime that had built up in case this person was a hand shaker.
She was relieved that what she was here for was probably pretty obvious and tried to smile warmly to the woman as she responded anyway to be polite , "I was hoping you may have some Pokemon that were ready to be used as starters? I just moved here and am hoping to start my own breeding business. Gotta start somewhere, right?" she said and although her words came out in a hurried flurried mess she was surprised she was able to string enough of those words together into a coherent couple of sentences. It was then that she realized she'd also said "start" in some variation three times and could have crawled back out into the blazing summer sun as self-sentenced punishment.
Hopefully the Professor wasn't a grammar fiend or language nerd. It would totally suck to be called out when all she wanted was a Pokemon to call her own and to get the hell back to her cozy apartment she'd been able to get.

If the girl was awkward at all, Iouna didn't really notice. She had seen much worse than the very pink girl in front of her, and at least she was nice enough to try and be polite. "That's fine, my dear!" Ah, so she was right! She handed the girls the papers. "Now, I need you to fill these out for me." She also handed her a Sheet of paper with many pictures of Pokemon on it. "These are the Pokemon that we have in right now! Feel free to pick which ever one you like!" Already the Professor was walking over to a shelf full of Pokeballs. Anya's eyes scanned quickly over the page hoping something would jump out at her. The Torchic near the bottom seemed to smile up at her and purr his little Torrrr in her mind. She smiled back at the picture and followed the Professor to the shelf, looking for the Pokeball labeled Torchic before grabbing it and filling out the paperwork. The Professor seemed to have wandered off while she was doing all this but had also gathered her a little rucksack full of other starter supplies and left a note wishing her luck.
She was downright giddy to get started, and also just to get back home and become acquainted with her new best friend. It would be nice to have a friend again! She hoisted the rucksack onto her back and popped the Pokeball into the side pocket with the 10 others she'd been given before darting outside and back down the path she'd wandered up mere moments ago, the blazing sun not even phasing her now as she offered a bright and happy smile to all she passed. Permission to send away the Professor given by pancake since she won't have reliable internet until Monday.
