Chapter [2]: The Grass is always Greener[Finished]

Shinzu would leap for joy before grabbing his brand new Magikarp. A second later though he would hear some rustling emanating from a pair of bushes in the distance, no doubt a Pokemon that had just heard the teens joyous yelling. Not willing to stick around and find out what it wanted, he would simply make a dash for the exit of the forest, his destination being the Pokecentre.

After a moderately uneventful trip, Shinzu would return to his previous location with a twig, which he would waste no time in using to poke the bush he saw moving a few hours ago. Having gained no response, the teen would instead begin stabbing at the bush violently, though to no avail. He was really looking forward to fighting whatever had decided to stalk him, but now he had little else to do aside from continue wandering deeper into the forest with only his own thoughts for company.

After satisfying himself with the knowledge that nothing could possibly be hiding in the bushes, Shinzu would stab the twig firmly into the ground, using it as a sort of makeshift flag as if to say that he now claimed the bush and the area around it as his own. The teen was then just about to set off after he wiped a bead of sweat from his head, though as he did so he couldn't help but notice his fingers brush against something strange and otherworldly. Using his entire hand, the trainer would place it on his head, the act of which causing a strange ghostly chill to echo throughout his body as his flesh phased through something on the top of his head.

Tilting his head backwards whilst simultaneously forcing his eyes as far up as they would go, Shinzu would catch a glimpse of a frightening figure that would cause him to run around in circles screaming until it decided to detach itself from his head. While all this was going on, the teens Pokedex would manage to slide out of his pocket and land on the ground with a thump, which would serve as more than enough for it to accidentally switch on. As a voice emanated from the device explaining what was on the his head, the trainer would abruptly stop running before blushing slightly at his own antics. "At least no one was around to see that..."

In light of the situation, Shinzu would give a slight grin as the Pokemon that had just been revealed as a Misdreavus began to laugh at him. Though despite the smile on his face, there was only anger in his eyes that just seemed to scream: 'Oh I will get you back for that!' Before the teen could even attempt to get his vengeance however, a young looking woman would come into view, who was no doubt the ghost Pokemon's trainer judging from how close they were acting towards each other.

"I wouldn't say it's my first time with a ghost Pokemon... But you know, I've never really been outside of the Kanto region so half of these Pokemon that end up attacking me don't even look like Pokemon!" Though he was only joking around, Shinzu would put great emphasis on the part about him getting attacked in attempt to get some sympathy. Just as she began to reach for the stick the teen had planted into the ground however, he would immediately jump in the way in order to protect it. "Hey! No touching fort Shinzu!"

While all this was going on, a sudden thought would pop into Shinzu's head, causing the previous grin on his face to slightly darken into something more sinister and cunning. "Say, seeing how this is my first time seeing a Misdreavus, would you allow me the honor of fighting him? ...Or her... I can never tell with Pokemon."

"Well as long as they stay away from fort Shinzu anyone passing by will be fine." Eyeing the stick he was protecting, Shinzu suddenly got the urge to ask the girl for a handkerchief just so that he could draw his face on it before tying it on like a flag. Before he could make this odd request however, the female trainer would mention something about her Pokemon only just leaving the Pokecentre. "Ah don't worry about it, all three of my Pokemon have only just healed up too- Actually..." The teen would cut off his sentance abrubtly as a question popped into his head, a question that he probably should of had the good manners to ask right away instead of waiting this long. "I'm sure you know my name already from my fort, but what about you, what should I call the lady that I'm about to defeat!"

Shinzu would then begin thinking for a few moments. He really wanted to try out the Magikarp he had just caught, but at the same time he really wanted to give Magby some much needed fighting experience too. Not to mention Deino probably wouldnt be too forgiving if she found out that the teen had excluded her from a battle. "How many Pokemon do you have? How about a three on three?" After saying that, he would fumble with his Pokeballs before releasing all three of his Pokemon at the same time, pretty much giving the enemy trainer no choice but to agree to the triple battle. "Never done one of these before, this should be great!"

"A CATERPIE!" Shinzu would shout from the top of his lungs, his voice being loud enough to almost scare his own Pokemon as he pointed towards the green Pokemon like a monkey that had been trained to recognize shapes. In all honesty, aside from the Magikarp earlier, this was the first Pokemon he instinctively recognized without the aid of any outside help. The smirk on the teens face would then widen as the girl revealed herself to be Belle, a Pokemon Ranger. "Of course, I take only the best care of my buddies here, don't I guys?" In response to this Magby would give a playful smile whilst Magikarp all the meanwhile simply glared at his trainer, clearly very sore for being forced to fight alongside a fire type. Still, it was more of a reaction than what Deino gave, who just simply stood there yawning as she prepared for the battle.

Despite wanting to go first however, Belle would take the initiative by ordering her Pokemon to go on the offensive. The first to feel the enemies onslaught would be Magikarp, who would flinch as he took a direct hit from the Astonish thanks to him being far too distracted with giving Magby a harsh glare. The next would by Magby who would fall victim to a Psywave, causing him to be pushed along the ground as he tried to resist the purple beam of energy distorting the air. After the attack had ended, he would retaliate by sucking in some air before spitting out a flurry of embers at the Caterpie. After all that had ended, Deino would become covered in multiple strings that would stick to her body and restrict her movements. Not wanting to let this phase her however, she would simply open her jaws wide, breaking through the strings wrapped around her mouth before firing off a purple haze of fire at the Caterpie. Apparently, Shinzu's Pokemon thought that his earlier outburst was a signal to focus on Caterpie first before taking out the other enemies.

Magby would be hit by the Astonish, but unlike a certain fish Pokemon, he was paying enough attention not to be too harshly effected by it. After shrugging off the damage, he would then spit out more embers into the air, causing them to rain down on the enemy Caterpie once gravity took control of them. Deino meanwhile would notice Shinzu eying Misdreavus, causing her to select the ghost Pokemon as her next target, both because Shinzu seemed to want her too but also to gain revenge for the Psywave that had just hit her. Opening up her jaws once more, Deino would unleash a Dragon Rage that would burn up the grass below to reveal brownish dirt as it headed towards the enemy.

The enemy Caterpie would then ram straight into Magikarp with his entire body, a sudden attack he found impossible to dodge due to the lack of mobility he was suffering from not being in water. "Your turn Magikarp, let's see what your made of!" In response to Shinzu's challenge, Magikarp would begin flopping around on the ground like it was water before tucking away its whiskers so that they did not get singed. "Dragon Rage!" Instead of being like Deino's that took the form of a purple fiery haze, Magikarp's Dragon Rage appeared to be more like a purple lightning-bolt that would also zig-zag toward the enemy ghost-type. Though of course despite its frighting appearance, in the end it wouldn't cause any elemental damage at all.

This time it would be Deino who would fall victim to the Astonish, however having just observed it in action twice, she would just barley be able to shrug off the flinching sensation building up on her body. "Can't let that hit again..." Despite Magikarp's flailing around in a poor attempt to dodge, he would once again be hit by Caterpie's tackle, causing his body to slide along the dusty ground. If things weren't bad enough, a Psywave would hit Deino whilst she was busy glancing at her allies, though luckily due to the random nature of the attack, it didn't feel as damaging as the last time it had struck.

"Let's give them hell!" Magby would fire off some embers at Caterpie, and right after they connected Deino would dash forwards violently, her intentions being to headbutt Caterpie and finish him off if possible. Whilst all this was going on, Magikarp would prepare another Dragon Rage, once again aiming the purple bolt of energy at Misdreavus.
