Chapter [2]: The Grass is always Greener[Finished]

Deino would be hit by the peck attack, but just as Swablu flew low enough to use that attack, Deino would strike back when she was most vulnerable with a harsh headbutt. Magby would then spit something out at the bird Pokemon, however rather than flames, this time it was a black cloud of poisonous fumes, not only serving to both damage and poison Swablu, but also to hide the location of Magby's allies. Unfortunately for Magikarp however, since he was unable to move from his spot fast enough, he would be hit directly with the Psywave, blowing him back slightly under its crushing power. With anger now in his eyes, he would resist the urge to attack the ghost Pokemon and rather decided to stick to the plan, firing off a Dragon Rage at the blue enemy whilst under the cover of the black smog.

Right before the two foes attacks would hit, Magikarp would bounce high into the air, dodging them both as he almost turned into a speck from how high above he had managed to launch himself. Deino meanwhile would wait until Swablu was low enough once again before jumping on top of the bird Pokemon, this time to clamp down tightly on his skin with the aid of a bite attack. Magby meanwhile would spit out another smog whilst taking great care in making sure that his ally did not end up in the middle of it too.

Magby was busy awing at Magikarp, so much so that he had failed to notice the Psywave. The wave of distorted energy would hit him critically, with enough force to dent the ground below slightly and send the pink Pokemon rolling along the ground a few feet back. Magikarp meanwhile would begin descending downwards, soaring through the air like he was plummeting through the oceans depths. Fueled by gravity, he would aim to slam right into the one remaining enemy, Misdreavus. As Magby recovered, he would limply force himself upright, clearly very exhuasted and near fainting, though that would not stop him from letting out a few embers from his mouth. Deino finally, with not much other choice, would unleash a fiery Dragon Rage at the foe.

Shinzu would grimace at the sight of Magikarp who seemed to have landed so hard that a quarter of his body was now embedded into the soil. About to go pull him free, Belle would instead do the job for him, freeing Magikarp from his earthy prison. "Whew thanks for that, I'm guessing all that flailing around meant he wasn't enjoying himself in there-" Suddenly, the teen would cut off the end of his sentence as he burst into laughter, almost dropping to the ground as the air left his lungs at the sight of the large and painful looking lump that had started to form on the fish Pokemon's head.

As if to get some payback, Magikarp would then begin thrashing around in Shinzu's hand as Belle returned him, making it that much more difficult to resist dropping him and adding to his list of injuries. "You were pretty tough too, I don't think I would of won that if I didn't spend the last couple of days training Deino and Magby against wild Pokemon." The teen would then return all his Pokemon back into their Pokeballs to allow them to rest before waving Belle off. "Thanks for the offer, but my Pokemon are pretty tough, they should be able to handle another fight or two before having to go back to heal." Of course, as soon as Belle's back was turned, he planned to go to the Centre to heal up anyway. It was just rather unfortunate that thanks to this poor attempt to look cool, he now had to go the long way back.

"Heh, looks like fort Shinzu's staying up for another night!" As soon as Belle left though, Shinzu would begin thinking back to what she said about it injuring any nearby Pokemon. Not wanting to let her know that she had just influenced him, the teen would make sure she wasn't watching before he would pull out the twig from the ground and then place it safely next to a bush. "Would of been messy if you landed on this, right Magikarp?" With a chuckle, he would at last depart into the distance, praying at each step that he would not encounter any wild Pokemon.

Shinzu would cringe slightly as Belle hit him on the head. It didn't hurt that much at all, but his eyes couldn't help but change into something that made him look like a injured puppy. "This would be a lot easier if you just accepted that I'm cool!" Though, with his lie found out at least he could head back to the Pokecentre the easy way rather than have to go to the edge of the forest and following it all the way back in a sort of 'L' shape. "I've gotta say though, being a Ranger sounds like a pretty hard job. Doesn't it get tiring?"

After bombarding poor Belle with hundreds of questions throughout the journey back, the duo would at last reach the Centre. Having become slightly famous after stopping a rogue Dodou several days ago, many of the trainers would allow Shinzu to stand in front of them in the queue, which judging from the sheer amount of people, meant that several hours had just been cut from the waiting time. "Isn't it great, I'm like a hero around here." Clearly, the teen was very modest.
